The Northern forests are a huge, nearly untouched stretch of land covering most of the Tsarina peninsula. Only very few settlements exist and these are inhabitated by very conservative elven tribes.
Not really much is known about the region and its history. Travelling to Grimvil and even more so to the villages north of the forests is dangerous because of the strong presence of monsters, highwaymen and fanatical elves, so the sea route is generally preferred. Rumor has it that the Nightwards were first seen in this area.
Only the southernmost part of the forests exhibits a mild climate with leaf trees thriving; the rest is dark, icy and nearly impassable in the winter, and full of stinging insects, blood-sucking birds, club-swinging ogres and other curiosities otherwise.
